What can I expect Bootcamp to be like?
Grumpy Fitness Bootcamps will all be different; most of our bootcamp classes will follow a similar pattern of a 5-10 minute dynamic warmup before moving into a High Intensity, Circuit-style workout. Be prepared to sweat!
We like to put fun spins on old exercises like squats and pushups, but don't be scared. If you are having trouble with specific exercises, we will provide you with regressed, modified version so you can continue sweating at a level thats right for you.
If Grumpy Fitness Bootcamp is too easy (yah right!!), we will offer you advanced, progressed exercises to give you "the burn".
Where will Grumpy Fitness Bootcamps be held?
Grumpy Fitness bootcamps will be located in Central Park's East Meadow, 97th east side entrance.
Rest assured, Grumpy Fitness Bootcamps will be awesome! We will always meet at a designated spot before moving into an open area to get our sweat on, so be a little early to class or exactly on time... if you are late you might not be able to find us.
When do Grumpy Fitness Bootcamps officially start?
Grumpy Fitness Bootcamp Classes officially started to pump people up and lean them down on March 15th
Please be advised, if we consider the weather to be dangerous then class will be postponed to a later day.
Example of dangerous exercise conditions like on Feb 26th, the day was very cold, ground is super icy. Not ideal for pushups, squats, lunges, burpees, pullups, swinging, windmills, backflips, handstands... you get the point.
Should you bring water to Boot Camp?
OMG be serious - when you attend a Grumpy Fitness Bootcamp class you can expect to run, jump, leap, squat, roll around, sweat, squat, lunge... did we say squat twice? Well yah... something to drink is a must!
During a single Grumpy Fitness Bootcamp class you can expect to burn 400-600 calories depending on how hard you decide to push yourself. Even if you decide to take it easy you will still be sweating.
Summary: Bring something to drink to stay hydrated. We suggest water or an energy drink, Ov prefers strong black coffee. Yes... bring him coffee and you will get brownie points! (Or challenge exercises)
Are Grumpy Fitness instructors scared of the rain?
Nope - rain / shine / snow / hurricane / tsunami - we don't mind leading your Grumpy Fitness Bootcamp classes in the rain as long as you want to come to class. (Class attendance minimum for a class is 5 people). And after all, isn't it kind of fun to get muddy?
Grumpy Fitness Bootcamps will be up and running unless we feel it is not safe for you, if we feel the conditions are unsafe (emergency, city declares panic, public transportation has been suspended, zombie apocolypse... wait! Zombies need training too!) classes will not be held as we will all be escaping from the city... or turned into Zombies...
Please remember that if you are planning on NOT attending class you must cancel out of the class 25 hours before to give other people the chance to sign up for the rainy class! FINE PRINT: TWO NO SHOWS=A Freeze of enrollment privleges for the remainder of the month (Please cancel in advance - the more notice the better).

What do I need to bring to My Grumpy Fitness Bootcamp class?
Grumpy Fitness Bootcamp classes can get intense! (Like camping!... get it? In.. tents.. nevermind). Here is a list of things you should consider bringing with you. Nothing is mandatory, think of these as guidelines to wellness and wellbeing.
Hydration is important - bring something to drink, water, coffee, energy drinks, tequila... no be serious - if you bring alcohol you will be yelled at, no drunk workouts.
Ov likes to eat snacks when he works out, do you snack? If you like to snack when you workout, thats ok, there will be water breaks and rest breaks when you can sneak a bite between squats, lunges, pushups... try to snack on healthy carbs. Google foods in the Low-Glycemic Index for good examples.
Yoga mat and a towel - if you dont have a yoga mat or a towel then you can use a cardboard box, if you cannot afford a cardboard box and dont mind getting dirty during your Grumpy Fitness Bootcamp class thats ok. Please note: you will be doing pushups/planks/abs on the floor - you might get muddy/messy - which might make you a little Grumpy. On particularly soggy days, most exercises will be standing.
If you have 5-10lb weights that would be awesome, but not necessary, weights can make exercises more challenging and provide results more efficiently.
If you have a jump rope you can jump rope instead of jumping jacks or running in place
Sneakers - We prefer you not to exercise barefoot, but... if you sign a waiver and you feel that you must go barefoot, thats up to you. (Lauren loves to be barefoot... that hippie...)
Positive or negative attitude: you will leave happy and exhausted no matter how grumpy you arive. But be prepared for us to force you to smile! Seriously. Extra pushups for frowners.
Change of clothing - you will get sweaty, its always good to have an extra shirt/sweatshirt to put on so you wont be wet and cold. Or stinky.
A friend: Have your friend sign up for a $1 trial class online, sign up for the class and then join up! (if classes are busy and/or full we will ask you to come to the next available class. If your friend signs up for the bootcamp/personal training will get a free ______ (you will be given a choice of rewards/bonuses - you choose which you'd like best)

Can I attend a Grumpy Fitness Bootcamp class or Personal training session if I have injuries?
Of course you can attend a Grumpy Fitness Bootcamp class if you are currently injured or recovering from injuries- HOWEVER, please be advised that if you are injured enough to be reading this FAQ then you will need to do two of following three things: 1. have a doctors note giving you permission to workout, 2. sign the waiver saying you assume risks/responsibility of working out knowing that you might exacerbate your injuries or incur new ones 3. sign up for a Fitness/Health assessment with a Grumpy Fitness Founder Ov or Lauren who will give you a gentle workout to measure if it is safe to have you workout with our Grumpy Fitness Group Bootcamp Class, guage your current fitness level and abilities.

I have no experience in fitness, exercise, group programs, outdoors, can I still participate in the Grumpy Fitness Bootcamp Program?
Yes of course you can participate in a Grumpy Fitness Bootcamp class, but before you begin we recommend you learn your body's limits so that you can safely push them and push them until you can go full force and show the class how much you can improve.
Let's chat, please email us email@example.com, you would benefit greatly from a face to face fitness/health assessment, we will review basic movements, test out your capabilities, practice the activities you will see and cover in Boot Camp, you will be given homework to practice and review.
What if I dont know what prime numbers are?
Thats ok, you will still be able to participate in the exercise games and exercise contests.
Wait, wait, what? How do prime numbers factor into Grumpy Fitness Bootcamp classes? Ov likes to make fitness into games, you will be challenged to recite prime numbers while doing exercises like pushups, squats, lunges. If the group succeeds in reaching the randomly chosen number you get a rest, if you make mistakes the group will switch exercises - no rest.

Awesome!!!! You are so going to get a Reward/Bonus for getting your friend interested in Grumpy Fitness Bootcamp classes. If your friend signs up for the Grumpy Fitness Bootcamp or for Grumpy Fitness Personal training we will offer you a choice of a loyalty reward

What challenges can we expect in the class?
You will be challenged of that you can be certain! There will be challenges, oh yes there will, so many challenges! You will be pushed and challenged as an individual and as part of a team. "Everything is awesome! Everything is cool when you're part of a team" lego movie.

How do I prepare for Bad Weather?
On rainy, soggy and icy days, workouts will be mostly standing.
If its raining - wear rain protected gear
If its snowing - wear Warm clothing
If its sunny - sunglasses
If its puppies - doggy bags
Min / Max people per class
Minimum people per class will be 5, if we don't have enough people classes will be postponed.
Maximum people per class will be 20, if we have too many people then more classes will be added
Will we learn how to survive a Zombie Apocolpyse in Grumpy Fitness Bootcamp or personal training sessions?
Grumpy Fitness Bootcamp Instructors will sometimes teach, dicuss, and review proper methods of surviving the Zombie Apocoplye as a zombie. We have never seen anyone care enough about the zombies, we will root for the underdogs!
